Outreach to Olode Village | May 2, 2020 Olode Village is a historic town in Oyo State, Nigeria. The community is made up of mud houses, domestic animals, and many widows and people in need. The major occupation of the villagers is farming. About 70% of them depend on farm produce to survive. On May 2, 2020, we visited the village to address the severe poverty affecting the people. Our motto is: “The Grace of God Toward Humanity.” We believe God has called us to serve humanity genuinely. Poverty in Nigeria is overwhelming. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) “Poverty and Inequality in Nigeria” report, 40% of Nigerians — almost 83 million people — live below the poverty line. This has caused untold hardship across the country. Moved with compassion, we responded to this urgent need. We took food items and relief materials to provide comfort for the villagers, even if just for a time. Items donated included: Bags of rice, beans, salt, cartons of noodles, and other essentials. Joyfully, all 200 villagers — young and old — came out to receive their share of the gifts. We also encouraged them to put God first in all things and to trust Him for daily provision. In return, they prayed for us and blessed us with powerful words of encouragement. It was an awesome and memorable experience, and it was worth every effort.
